      2000 SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE REPORT

National Order of Omega

Announcement and Application Guidelines

Postcard announcements for the Fellowship awards were mailed in September 2000 and reminder postcard announcements in October 2000 (with instructors to visit the National Order of Omega website www.orderofomega.org) to Greek Advisors and Graduate Assistants via the Association of Fraternity Advisors mailing directory and to active and inactive chapters of the National Order of Omega via the National Order of Omega mailing directory.  

A total of eighty (80) scholarship applications (80 Order of Omega chapters) were received by the November 1, 2000 postmarked deadline and reviewed by the 2000 Scholarship Committee.

Committee and Selection Process

The Scholarship Committee was composed of student affairs staff at Texas Tech University including:

The Scholarship Committee reviewed the Scholarship applications from November 7, 2000 through December 8, 2000 and finalized recommendations on December 11, 2000.

Scholarship Recommendations and Awards 

On December 2, 2000, the Executive Council along with Board of Directors and Province Advisors attending the annual meeting of the Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA) and National Interfraternity Conference (NIC) at the Point Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix, Arizona discussed the preliminary recommendations or the Scholarship Committee. 

The Scholarship Committee recommended and approved on December 11, 2000 six (6) $750 Scholarships, fifty-four (54) $500 Scholarships, and twenty (20) $100 Scholarships be awarded from the National Order of Omega for 2000 as follows:

Scholarship Notifications

 Notifications were mailed to the $750, $500, and $100 Scholarship recipients the week of December 18-22, 2000. The $750, $500, $100 checks were mailed to the Greek Advisor/Order of Omega Advisor the week of January 8-12, 2001.
